Dreier Wire

Dreier’s economic policy creates a burden

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin – October 10, 2008

I read the Daily Bulletin's piece regarding the race in the 26th Congressional District between Russ Warner and David Dreier.

The article begged the question: Why did Dreier choose to attack Warner instead of touting his own accomplishments? I mean, Dreier has been our congressman for 28 years.

He should have a long list of legislative accomplishments to run on instead of taking cheap shots at Warner.

Who Would Support Gasoline Price Gouging? Want To Guess?

Down with Tyranny Blog – June 24, 2008

This evening the House passed, with an overwhelming bipartisan majority, H R 6346, the Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act. The intent of the bill-- which was supported by every Democrat except Blue Dog extremist Collin Peterson (MN) and by 51 Republicans-- is to investigate and punish anyone who artificially inflates the price of gasoline and diesel fuel.

McCain’s oil spillover?

Ventura County Star Blog – June 23, 2008

Overnight tracking polls for an election more than four months away don't mean much, but California Republican candidates for Congress and the Legislature must have shuddered a bit this week with the release of the first public presidential poll conducted after John McCain's call to lift the moratorium on oil drilling off the California coast.

The Idiocy Of Off-Shore Oil Drilling

Robert Cruickshank, Courage Campaign – June 18, 2008

When you drive along Highway 101 near Santa Barbara, or Highway 1 in Huntington Beach, it's hard to miss the many oil rigs on the ocean's horizon. They are relics of a bygone age - not just the 1960s, when they were constructed, but an age in which California believed that cheap oil would always be plentiful and available.

Bush Calls For Offshire Drilling

Whittier Daily News – June 18, 2008

President Bush on Wednesday called for the lifting of a ban on oil drilling along the East and West coasts and in the eastern Gulf of Mexico - a proposal that was quickly met with strong resistance from California's governor.

Reaction to Bush's call was split along party lines among the San Gabriel Valley's congressional leaders. Reps. David Dreier, R-San Dimas, and Gary Miller, R-Brea, signaled support, but Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Pasadena, and Grace Napolitano, D-Santa Fe Springs, bluntly calling it a non-starter.

Late yesterday a substantial bipartisan majority in the House passed the Emergency Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 2008 (H R 5749), 279-144.

Will Dreier, Bilbray, Bono, Calvert and Rohrabacher Stand With Bush or Out-of-Work Families?

California Chronicle – June 10, 2008

In the face of the latest U.S. Labor Department jobs report finding 49,000 more U.S. jobs were lost in May - the fifth consecutive month of negative job growth totaling nearly 325,000 jobs lost since the beginning of the year...

REPUBLICAN ACTIONS AGAINST MILITARY FAMILIES REPLACING HOLLOW RHETORIC IN THE MINDS OF VOTERS

Down With Tyranny Blog – June 10, 2008

Republicans have a serious problem with military veterans this year-- very serious. They've been bellowing "Support The Troops" loud and long and for the past half decade their bluster has been enough. It isn't any longer. Pick almost any Republican member of Congress-- either house-- and look at his or her voting record on support for our troops or for support for our vets and you'll probably be astonished.

Local GOP lawmakers rally behind candidate McCain’s comments

Whittier Daily News – March 26, 2008

Local Republicans rushed to support Sen. John McCain's positions on combating terrorism and keeping troops in Iraq after a major foreign policy speech by the candidate in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
